When you think of country music today, Texas 10-gallon hats and cowboy boots often come to mind, along with a nice Southern twang.

But Clifford Murphy says country music comes from all regions of the U.S., including New England, where country music means the woods of Maine, and a singer with an eye patch.

Here & Now's Lisa Mullins spoke with Murphy, author of the book "Yankee Twang: Country and Western Music in New England," in an interview on Radio Boston.
