Nebraska's highest court threw out a lawsuit on Friday that challenged a proposed route for the Keystone XL pipeline, potentially clearing the way for the controversial oil pipeline.

In a split decision, the court ruled that the three landowners who had sued the state did not demonstrate that they had legal standing to bring their case. The lawsuit challenged a 2012 state law that allowed Governor Dave Heineman to grant permission to force some Nebraska landowners to sell their property for the project.

Michael Regan of Bloomberg News joins Here & Now's Lisa Mullins to discuss what this means for the Keystone XL pipeline, as the House is slated to vote on the project later today.

The Associated Press contributed reporting to this article.
