More Aggressive Of Two Anti-Abortion Bills Fails
ResumeToday is the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision guaranteeing a woman's right to an abortion. Thousands of anti-abortion activists have gathered in Washington for an anti-Roe v. Wade demonstration.
Meanwhile, the House passed a bill today that would further narrow restrictions on abortion funding. It was not, however, the more far-reaching bill Republicans had hoped to put up for a vote today.
That bill would have banned abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, only allowing exceptions in cases of reported rape, incest or the life of the mother. But some female Republicans balked.
