Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert is scheduled to appear in federal court in Chicago today. Hastert is set to be arraigned for lying to the FBI for trying to evade federal cash withdrawal rules.

The U.S. Attorney alleges that Hastert paid $3.5 million to an unidentified person as hush money for concealing prior misconduct. The New York Times and Los Angeles Times have both reported that the prior misconduct was related to abuse by Hastert when he was a high school teacher and wrestling coach.
