Over the past couple years, there has been a national discussion about the value of lives in urban America. In places like Cleveland, New York and Ferguson, Missouri, the news has brought us images of large protests, and sometimes rioting. But there are many people who live and work in those communities, out of the spotlight.

From Here & Now contributor WCPN, David C. Barnett reports on a local effort to help young people tell their stories through theater. Brick City is an outreach program of Cleveland Public Theatre, created in 1999, in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority. The program works with young people aged 5 to 14.
