Runner Nick Symmonds is supposed to be on the American team at the World Track and Field Championships later this month in Beijing. He won the 800-meter race in the U.S. championship meet. But he's not going to Beijing because he won't sign a contract with USA Track & Field to wear only Nike gear during the meet. Nike sponsors USA Track & Field and Symmonds is sponsored individually by Brooks, another athletic gear maker. USA Track & Field says these contracts have been standard for years, but it respects Symmonds' decision not to compete.

Nick Symmonds joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss his choice.
