Chile peppers have been part of New Mexican culture for more than a century. The New Mexican chile pepper is the spicier sister of the Anaheim chile and is the official state vegetable. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture wants to convince people in other regions to buy their spicy green chile peppers. But as Carrie Jung of Here & Now contributor KJZZ reports, there are a number of challenges to increasing production of the crop.
