Accepting an invitation by Speaker of the House John Boehner, Pope Francis started his second day in the U.S. as the first pope to speak to Congress in U.S. history.

He touched on topics like immigration, the refugee crisis in Europe and climate change. Some lawmakers have made clear that his words may not influence their stances on such issues.
