North Carolina Voter ID Requirement On Trial In Federal Court03:44
Play
North Carolina's voter ID requirement goes before a judge in federal court today.
The requirement was part of a broader law that was reviewed by the same judge last summer, but the state legislature added an amendment to the bills' photo ID requirement. That's what's being considered by the judge in this non-jury hearing today.
The plaintiff in the case is a 94-year-old woman who has been voting for 70 years, but had trouble voting last year because of the new rules. Mary Curtis, political editor at Roll Call, joins Here & Now's Robin Young with details.
