Jobs Explainer: U.S. Adds Jobs, But Unemployment Rate Goes Up03:44

The U.S. economy added 215,000 jobs in March, considered to be a healthy sign of economic growth. At the same time, the unemployment rate rose slightly, from 4.9 to 5 percent. How does that happen?

To discuss the latest jobs report, which also showed that average hourly earnings rose by 0.3 percent in the last month, Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson speaks with NPR's Marilyn Geewax.
