(Tom Banse/NWW) Nick Symmonds, a two-time Olympian from the Pacific Northwest, is auctioning space on his shoulder on eBay to make a point about the earning prospects for elite American runners. Symmonds is offering to get a tattoo with an image from the highest bidder. The auction closes Thursday, and bids have topped $10,000. It's the latest gambit by the outspoken middle-distance runner to take on his sport's governing board.
