Tribes Call On Obama To Make Bears Ears A National Monument

The Antiquities Act of 1906 offers legal protections for cultural and natural resources on public lands. In his last days in office, President Barack Obama still has the power to make significant changes to the Southwest.

During his two terms in office, Obama has already used the Antiquities Act to designate 27 national monuments — more than any other president. And now, a coalition of American Indian tribes are hoping Obama will take action on at least one more proposal.
