Senate Democrats Threaten Government Shutdown

With funding due to expire at midnight, coal-state Democrats are blocking action on a stopgap spending bill in a dispute over health care benefits for miners. They are pressing President-elect Donald Trump — who campaigned on a pledge to help the coal mine industry — to intervene.
