Yesterday, a federal judge temporarily stopped a fetal burial rule in Texas that was supposed to go into effect Monday.

The rule would require health care facilities to cremate or bury fetal remains from miscarriages and abortions — regardless of how far along the pregnancy was or a woman's wishes. Supporters say fetal remains shouldn’t be treated like medical waste. But health care providers, and even funeral homes, are worried the rule's implications are unclear and possibly costly.
