Like most teachers, Barry White Jr., a fifth-grade English teacher at the Ashley Park Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina, says "good morning" to all his students. What's special is how he does it.

The kids line up outside the classroom waiting for their turn to do a specially choreographed handshake, including dance moves, shimmies and spins. White, who says the unique handshakes give his kids confidence and set them up for better learning, joins Here & Now's Robin Young to explain the unorthodox morning routine.

This segment aired on February 2, 2017.
