Amid Military Buildup On Korean Peninsula, Rex Tillerson Makes First Official Asia Visit

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in Tokyo Wednesday night, commencing his first official visit to Asia. Tillerson will meet with senior officials in Japan, South Korea and China.

His trip comes at a volatile time for the region. Last week North Korea carried out its second ballistic missile test in a month, just as the U.S. deployed its own missile system across the border in South Korea, called Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD.
