Ask most people to name a sport that’s popular with immigrants and they'll probably say soccer or baseball. But with the Stanley Cup playoffs underway, we thought we'd check in with growing popularity of ice hockey among immigrants.

Shagana Ehamparam is a reporter with Feet in 2 Worlds, a project at The New School in New York that brings stories by immigrant journalists to public radio. She grew up in a Sri Lankan family in Toronto that loved hockey, so she went looking for other immigrants who have embraced the sport.
