A record 11 women — all Democrats — were elected to the Virginia legislature during the November election. They're a diverse group: Virginia's first Latina legislator, the first Vietnamese-American lawmaker and the state's first transgender state lawmaker.

Reporter Patrick Madden (@Patrick_Madden) of WAMU followed them as they took office this month.
