Mining is a boom-and-bust business. Consider the tin market: It collapsed in 1985, but has enjoyed a rebound over the years and has companies trying to reopen mines in Australia, Germany and Africa.

NPR's Frank Langfitt (@franklangfitt) reports on how demand for consumer electronics may even help revive the abandoned South Crofty tin mine in the English county of Cornwall.

This segment aired on April 3, 2018.
