Voters in Northern California will cast ballots Tuesday on whether or not to recall Judge Aaron Persky, who gave what critics consider a too-lenient sentence to a Stanford University swimmer, Brock Turner, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.

Persky is the first judge in more than 80 years to face a recall vote. Women are leading both the effort to recall the judge and the campaign against the recall.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson talks with Margaret Russell, a law professor at Santa Clara University who is opposing the recall.

This segment aired on June 4, 2018.
