Maurice Stallard, 69, and Vickie Jones, 67, both African-American, were shot and killed last week at a Kroger grocery store in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, by a white gunman. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. Also, funeral services are being held Tuesday for three of the 11 victims of Saturday's shooting rampage at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. We speak with composer Osvaldo Golijov, whose "Passion of St. Mark" includes an emotional version of the Kaddish. And as October comes to a close, Here & Now resident chef Kathy Gunst brings pumpkin soup, pumpkin risotto and a pumpkin pudding into the studio to share. That and more, in hour two of Here & Now's Oct. 30, 2018 full broadcast. You can read and hear more at hereandnow.org, follow us on Twitter and join the conversation on Facebook.

This program aired on October 30, 2018.
