While the federal minimum wage has not changed in a decade, the minimum wage did increase in 21 states at the start of the new year. Four other states are also set to increase their baseline pay later this year. Also, the U.S. killing of the top Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, in Baghdad is expected to have major repercussions.
