The culture of NASCAR is shifting thanks to the only full-time Black driver in the cup series, Bubba Wallace. NASCAR recently banned the Confederate flag from events after Wallace pushed for it.

And this week, Wallace was back in the news after his team discovered a noose in a garage he'd been assigned to in Alabama. The FBI determined that it was a door pull made to look like a noose, but that it had been there months before Wallace used the garage.

Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd speaks with Maya Jones, an associate editor at The Undefeated who covers NASCAR.

This segment aired on June 26, 2020.
