Louisiana COVID-19 Cases Spike And Spread To Rural Areas

Forty-six states are showing increases in new daily coronavirus cases, among them Louisiana, where COVID-19 cases seemed to be well controlled.

On May 10, there were only about 180 new cases reported in the state. Since July 1, the state's daily new cases have numbered between 1,800 and 2,000.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson speaks with Dr. Susanne Straif-Bourgeois, professor of epidemiology at Louisiana State University.
