TikTok Partners With Oracle And Walmart, Commerce Dept. To Challenge Order That Blocked WeChat Ban

The Trump administration is stepping up its legal battle over WeChat, one day after a federal judge in San Francisco blocked the Commerce Department from banning downloads of the Chinese-owned app in the United States.

The Commerce Department said Monday it will challenge that decision, which came just hours before the ban was set to take effect on Sunday.

TikTok also averted a U.S. ban that was set to take effect last night, after its owner ByteDance announced a new partnership with the American companies Oracle and Walmart.
