The Washington Post reports Dr. Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House task force, has privately pleaded with Trump administration officials to do more to slow the spread of the virus. In an internal memo, Birx reportedly says testing is “flat or declining” in many areas where cases are rising.

That contrasts with statements by President Trump, who has repeatedly blamed the latest surge in cases on more testing.

Here & Now's Tonya Mosley speaks with Jennifer Nuzzo, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, about testing in the U.S. and how it compares to other countries.

This segment aired on November 3, 2020.
