2020 transformed the entertainment industry. TV streaming audiences surged as a pandemic kept people at home. A civil rights reckoning upended longstanding shows. And big-budget movies started to debut online at the same time that they were released to movie theaters.

NPR TV critic Eric Deggans joins us to discuss the year's significance, along with two recommendations: Disney+'s "The Mandalorian" and HBO's "I May Destroy You."

This segment aired on January 1, 2021.
