The coronavirus pandemic has punched big holes in an already shaky child care system. Federal stimulus money has tried to patch the holes, including a program that pays for child care for essential workers.

Child care advocates say it's a real-time test run of what subsidized child care could look like in America, North Country Public Radio's Amy Feiereisel reports.
