Lynn Jolicoeur Honored with Responsible Reporting Award for News Series on Suicide

Congratulations to WBUR producer/reporter Lynn Jolicoeur, who received the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention's Leadership in Responsible Reporting award for her 15-part series, "Suicide: A Crisis in the Shadows." The stories aired on WBUR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered, with additional reporting on Radio Boston.

Lynn was presented this award in an annual Statehouse awards ceremony on March 14 by Alan Holmlund, the director of the state’s suicide prevention program at the Department of Public Health. Lynn is the first recipient of this award.

WBUR's year-long series on suicide officially wrapped up in December 2015, but Lynn will continue to report on the issue. She is currently working on a piece about a new course at Simmons College School of Social Work that will train clinicians on suicide risk and how to assess clients for suicidality. It’s thought to be the first course of its kind. Simmons is also offering the curriculum to other schools nationwide.
