The WBUR Gala: The Heart of WBUR

The annual WBUR Gala took place last night at the Royal Sonesta Boston — “The Heart of WBUR” was a celebration of the station and its relentless focus on proving news and programming that makes an impact in the lives of our listeners.

The evening began with a live reading of Modern Love: The Podcast and included a presidential election conversation moderated by On Point host Tom Ashbrook, with special guests E.J. Dionne, Eliana Johnson and Phillip Reeves, as well as the presentation of the WBUR medal to Marty
Baron
, executive editor of The Washington Post.

The Daniel Schorr Prize, presented each year to a rising journalist age 35 and under, was given to WAMU Reporter Patrick Madden for his work on a six-month investigate series, “Assault on Justice." Listen to Madden’s award-winning entry here.

To all of our special guests, donors and dedicated community, we extend our heartiest thanks for a fantastic evening celebrating WBUR and its mission to provide quality, independent journalism.
