Haitian officials say Hurricane Matthew has killed more than 900 people and left hundreds of thousands vulnerable in the country's southern peninsula.

Humanitarian aid is arriving from all over the world — including from Massachusetts.

Newton-based non-profit St. Boniface Haiti Foundation is working to get resources to the island.

Conor Shapiro is the president and CEO of St. Boniface. The charity focuses on providing essential health services to the people of southern Haiti.

Shapiro joined WBUR's Morning Edition from Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

This segment aired on October 9, 2016.
