The Military Base Realignment and Closure commission held a hearing in Boston yesterday on whether several bases in New England should be closed. Among the bases the Pentagon has proposed shutting down are the Submarine Base New London in Connecticut, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, and Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod. The commission will now move on to hearings in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington.
