Lyndhurst Street: One Week Later

For a week now, Bruce Wall has been trying to reclaim the streets of Dorchester, starting with one in particular.

Last Sunday, Pastor Wall of the Global Ministries Christian Church moved into an apartment on Lyndhurst Street along with other members of his congregation. It's just three blocks away from his church in Codman Square. He's calling it an "occupation" to draw attention to the drug dealers and criminals he says are infesting what used to be a good neighborhood.

Wall and his team plan to leave on Sunday, but say they are considering using the same approach in other neighborhoods.

WBUR producer Matt Largey followed Pastor Wall for the week, and has this audio diary.

This program aired on August 5, 2005. The audio for this program is not available.
