Lawmakers Reject Gay Marriage Amendement
Massachusetts lawmakers have decided to banish the proposed amendment that sought to ban same-sex marriages but allow civil unions. The measure passed in March of 2004, but yesterday, it garnered only 39 votes in favor and 157 against.
As WBUR's Audie Cornish reports, the dual purpose proposal lost support on both sides of the Statehouse.
