Syncopated Rhythms
George Wein is famous for founding the Newport Jazz Festival; he is not so well-known for his collection of African-American art.
This month, Wein's collection is on display at Boston University in an exhibition called "Syncopated Rhythms." The show includes work by Norman Lewis, Ellis Wilson, Jacob Lawrence and several paintings by Miles Davis.
Bob Oakes recently sat down with George Wein at the Boston University Art Gallery and asked him to explain how he got interested in collecting African-American art.
