Guard Members Sue Defense Department

Members of the Massachusetts Army National Guard are suing the Defense Department over on-the-job expenses. Four soldiers filed a class action suit in federal court in Boston yesterday against Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and other military officials.

The suit, which also names Governor Mitt Romney, seeks $73 million for food, lodging and commuting expenses they estimate members of the Massachusetts Guard have had to pay out-of-pocket during their service since 9/11.
