Bills Would End Limits on Church Liability

Legislators on Beacon Hill are preparing for a clash with the Archdiocese of Boston. Four bills are under consideration in the House and Senate that could expose the Archdiocese to more costly civil lawsuits. Lawyers and advocates for alleged victims of clergy sexual abuse say the changes proposed in the bills are necessary because the Archdiocese of Boston is not negotiating abuse settlements in good faith.
