Hunger in Boston

Hunger is on the rise in the Bay State, a new study reveals.

A survey by the Greater Boston Food Bank finds nearly half a million people, seven percent of the population in Massachusetts, seek emergency food aid each year.

The study shows that during the past decade the number of Massachusetts residents relying on food banks has almost doubled.

Listen to Morning Edition on Wednesday to hear Catherine D'Amato, the Food Bank's president talking about the study.

This program aired on March 22, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
