Becoming a Citizen

The day after crowds of immigrants and their supporters rallied in Boston for legal status, thousands gathered in the city to become U.S. citizens. Three thousand and seventy five people from nations that spanned the globe swore allegiance to the American flag at the Heinz Convention Center in Boston. The naturalization ceremony was one of the largest in New England in the past five years. Monica Brady-Myerov dropped in to ask several new Americans why they became citizens.
