Homeless Enter the Workforce

Pine Street Inn is not only a homeless shelter. Since 1990, the organization has graduated more than 1500 students from its job readiness training programs. In June, Pine Street held its annual graduation ceremony for students enrolled in both the ten-week Food Service Training Program and the three-week program called "STRIVE," which stands for Support and Training Result in Valuable Employees. During STRIVE, students learn practical business skills such as how to fill out a resume, how to arrive on time, and how to work in a team. Out of the 136 proud graduates, 53 completed both programs. WBUR's Danielle La Rocco attended the event.

This program aired on June 28, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
