Digging Up History

When contractor Doug Hanna went to work on a home in Cambridge a few months ago, he never dreamed what he would find lying in the basement of the 125 year-old house, or the bizarre connection between himself and that object.

What he found was a 600 pound granite block, about 16 inches square and five and a half feet long, with a mysterious inscription.

Mister Hanna moved the stone block to his driveway near Fresh Pond in Cambridge where we recently visited him to have him tell us the story of this unusual discovery.
