Big Dig News

The list of safety concerns about the Big Dig is growing, as a legal battle about the future of Turnpike Authority Chairman Matthew Amorello goes to court today.

A newly surfaced memo says epoxy bolts in the Interstate 90 connector tunnel were failing in the year 2000, but the Boston Herald reports it's unclear what fixes were put in place.

The concerns were in the same section of tunnel where a ceiling collapsed two weeks ago, killing a Jamaica Plain woman.

And the Boston Globe reports a safety officer with the contractor that built the tunnel wrote a memo in 1999, saying he didn't think ceiling bolts would hold up over time.
