Attorney General Thomas Reilly's campaign for governor has received a timely boost. The Boston Herald today is endorsing Reilly over his two Democratic rivals. With one week left in the primary campaign, the former Middlesex District Attorney needs a strong finish to overtake Deval Patrick and Christopher Gabrieli, who lead Reilly according to recent polls.
Reilly is the only one of the three who has held elected office and he is considered the "establishment" candidate. However, he is running a largely populist campaign, focusing on his humble upbringing, modest means, and blue-collar sensibilities.
