"The Departed" Arrives in Boston

Boston is the backdrop for "The Departed," about the Irish mob in the Hub. Local boys Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg feature strongly and the writer is William Monahan, who was born in Dorchester.

Martin Scorsese's new film boasts an all-star cast that also includes Jack Nicholson and Leonardo di Caprio. But it's the Boston factor that has dominated local interest in advance of the movie's premiere.

Critic at Large Ed Siegel joins WBUR's Bob Oakes to talk about "The Departed" after its first weekend in theaters.

The audio for this discussion will be available on WBUR's web site after 10 a.m. Monday.

This program aired on October 9, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
