The $51 Million Conversation
The Red Sox emerged last night as the winner of a bidding war for the right to negotiate with Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka.
The Sox have paid more than $50 million to the Seibu Lions of Japan's Pacific League for the right to talk with Matsuzaka for the next 30 days.
The Seibu Lions will receive the money only if the Red Sox sign on the prized pitcher.
WBUR's Bob Oakes speaks with Red Sox analyst Glen Stout about the very expensive deal.
