SJC Considers Gay Marriage Vote
It's now up to the state's highest court to decide whether it can force the legislature to vote on the issue of gay marriage. Lawmakers meet in a Constitutional Convention on the last day of their session, January 2nd. Whether they'll take up a proposed amendment that seeks to ban same sex marriage remains to be seen.
In the meantime, the Supreme Judicial Court heard arguments yesterday [wed] focused on whether it can order the legislature to vote on the ballot initiative if lawmakers decide against addressing the issue. WBUR's Fred Thys was in the SJC and reports on the arguments.
