Death is inevitable, but some of us avoid talking or even thinking about it. Now, programs to help people cope with illness and dying are growing quickly in Massachusetts.

Across the country, hospital-based palliative care services, as they're called, have doubled in the past five years. WBUR's Health and Science reporter Allan Coukell has the story of how they've helped one local family.
