Gov. Seeks Disaster Declaration

Governor Deval Patrick has asked the federal government to declare a "fisheries resource disaster" in Massachusetts.

Patrick says new rules limiting the number of days fishermen can spend at sea in Massachusetts waters are hurting an already struggling industry.

WBUR's Bob Oakes talks about the state of the fishing industry with Vito Calamo. He's a third generation fisherman, out of Gloucester, and Chairman of the State Fisheries Commission.

This program aired on February 22, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
