Stop and Shop Strike Seen As Likely

A strike by Stop and Shop workers is appearing likely.

Union workers have threatened to walk off the job Sunday if contract negotiations fail to produce a settlement.

Stop and Shop managers presented their latest proposal today, and union members are not happy with the company's wage offer.

The union has scheduled meetings throughout New England on Sunday to vote on management's best proposal. If the offer is rejected, a strike by 43,000 Stop and Shop workers could begin immediately.
