Connector Recommends Minimums

A committee of the state's Health Insurance Connector Authority has set two key recommendations for minimum health coverage.

The committee is recommending that health plans include prescription drug coverage by September 2008. They also want to exclude plans that set caps on how much can be spent on a patient over their lifetime.

Massachusetts Association of Health Plans President Marylou Buyse says that could leave nearly 450 thousand people in plans which may not meet minimum standards.

The full Connector Authority will vote on whether to accept the recommendations next week.
